Mind Warp

if we are ever to explore the whole universe
which is our divine right
the we need to think outside the box of physics
and spend more time in meta-physics

the goal of exploration is not a matter of placing our physical bodies
in a new environment
its a matter of getting our minds there

the evolution of consciousness
is all about developing extra-sensory envisioning powers
our specie is  young
still fascinated with the particle illusion of quantum mechanics
not fully aware of pure mass-less energy
which is consciousness itself

the minute we stop separating the individual consciousness
from that of the universal collective
moving vision from point to another
transcends time and space
no vehicle is necessary
all is seen at once

1. Personal (self) Consciousness
2. Family Consciousness
3. Clan (extended family) Consciousness
4. National Consciousness
5. International Consciousness
6. Global Consciousness
7. Cosmic Consciousness

Each grade encourages an extension beyond the needs of the self
leading towards an increased comprehension

Faith and Reason

All children are born with superstitious instincts
and intuitively sense the invisible forces of faeries and imps in Nature

the sense of goodness prevailing over the bad
is an essential aspect of childhood ethical development
this childish intuition accompanies us into adulthood
as a religious Faith in God
but we rarely apply reason to our Belief in the Universal Goodness
and therefore generally feel victimized by our hurts

keeping superstition alive in the child psyche
is one of the vital aspects of the HeartStart Home-school program i designed for my kids
i did it by evoking their reasoning capabilities
every time one of them got hurt in play or otherwise
it gave me a chance to discuss Cause and Effect
and thereby get them
every time they came  crying
to transcend the negative connotation of victimization
and listen to reason

I would get them to agree that Mother Nature was Good and kind
and would never hurt them intentionally for no reason
that there was no such thing as an "accident"
it was Her job to protect the Law of non-trespass
every hurt is caused by carelessness
so she would send along an invisible imp (tochalosh) to scratch, bump or bite them
into better behavior
disobedience and  bad thoughts were also a form of trespass on goodness
santa claus and faeries brought rewards
very soon they began to pay close attention to cause and effect

by age four/five
all my kids were on the road to self-policing their own behavior
no more crying
by age seven they were ready to have their faith challenged
by the tedium of chores
and learn that sincere effort
paid extra dividends

faith turbo-charged by reason
has made the Belief in Goodness
by my adult kids
unshakable
they know
God helps those
who help themselves

Science and the Humanities

A Basic Reminder

Ego tends to separate us from Mother Nature
our specie is still young
Nature's latest off-spring
Her finest creation yet of all the 3 billion other life forms
and  no matter how immature our self-determined arguments the contrary
we are still subject to all Her Natural Laws
She gives priceless lessons in planet management
and energy conservation

the top-most needle of a towering redwood
receives sap pumped vertically via osmosis
all forests are watered via desalinated evaporation
and dispersed via atmospheric pressures
the soil enriched by falling compost
wind and insects
busy pollinating
where ever we look we see sustainable ecology
zero pollution
zero wasted energy

we never invented human consciousness
it evolved from the same universal star dust
that all other conscious forms enjoy
our planet, Earth, is our Mother
and since all life is sustained by calories of sunlight
our star, Sol, is our Father
every other life form evolved from the same basic elements
oxygen, carbon, phosphorous, calcium, etc
and is therefore all family
we all exist on a common family estate
with equal rights from ant to man

with our large brain
comes super-natural power
with great power
comes great responsibilities
far greater than our private egotistical ambitions

The Living Christ

I was baptized and brought up as a Protestant Christian in the Anglican Church
I spent a year as a child practicing Catholicism as a student border in a convent
for the past 40 years I have also practiced  the spiritual exercises and disciplines of
Judaism
Animism
Shamanism,
Hinduism,
Islam
Zen Buddhism

Christian "purists"  believe that by worshiping
with full heart and mind
at the altars of all the major world religions
i have somehow betrayed my Christian birth right
engaged in heresy
and am lost to Christ

How can that be?
If a qualified plumber studies, architecture, electrical installation and  bricklaying
that holistic appreciation of the building trade
only improves and extends his expertise
it makes him a far more accomplished plumber

My engagement in world religions
has vastly improved my understanding of Christianity
and the amazing cultural legacy my birthright has brought to the world
not lessened it

It has allowed me to transcend the childish view of Jesus
that the church still teaches
about a god that took immaculate birth as a man
lived for 33 years
preached peace and love for neighbor
was persecuted and died on the cross
rose from the dead
went off to heaven
and will come back to earth again at some future date
to save only those who believe that is what Christianity is about

I have come to believe in a living Christ
an eternal Divine presence
resident in the heart of everyman
of every clime
no matter what name we give Him
a Christ that has always been present
right from the very beginning
who has never left
and never will
he lives inside of me
urging me to live the life he preached
to love my neighbor
as i love myself
every day of my life
not wait for some future coming
and life ever after in an exclusive heaven
while others suffer in hell

all of us are Christ-born
all of us are immaculate sons and daughters of God
all of us are destined to preach love
all of us have a cross to bear
all of us must be prepared to be crucified for our good intentions
all of us will  rise from the dead
all of us will join our Father in Heave
